We develop our seating designs in Germany, where a team of dedicated engineers and technicians works with outside designers. The resulting products are extremely comfortable, good looking and easy to use. Logical placement of chair adjustment levers, use of state of the art materials and a concern for the environment are guiding principals throughout our product line. Dauphin offers a seating program comprised of four fundamentals:
Friedrich-Wilhelm Dauphin founded Dauphin in 1969 in a small town in Bavaria, Germany, as a specialist in ergonomic office seating. Inspired by research forecasting a sharp rise in the use of computers in the workplace, Dauphin set out to build a company that offered high quality ergonomic seating and cutting edge technology at reasonable prices. In 1979, Dauphin began distributing ergonomic seating in the United States through the importer Charvoz and in 1993 acquired 100 percent ownership of the North American seating operations. Today, Dauphin services the NAFTA markets from factories located in New Jersey and Ontario, Canada. |
With worldwide sales exceeding $200-million and daily production of more than 4,000 units, we now sell Dauphin chairs in over 50 countries around the world through our global partners. Our highly prized ISO-9001 and ISO-14001 certificates evidence recognition of Dauphin's product and service quality.

In 1996, Dauphin Entwicklungs und Beteiligungs GmbH, a Research and Development company based in Neukirchen, Germany, produced a mission statement on environmental issues. This statement guides both product development and actual manufacturing practices at Dauphin locations around the world. These activities reflect the personal ethos of the founding family and company shareholders. In November, 2002 they resulted in ISO-14001 certification. |

They also anticipate the requirements of pending German legislation known as the "Kreislaufwirtschafts-und Abfallgesetz" (Recycling of Materials and Products Law), which makes German manufacturers responsible for the waste they produce. Coincidentally, an environmentally responsible approach to design and manufacturing is also good business. In recent years, Dauphin North America has almost doubled its production capacity, and seen its waste & disposal costs drop by more than 50%. |
